KK~Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into the industry and what inspired you?
I always had a love of music but poetry was my thing at the age of 9..
My cousin had a dj system and a mic. I laced that mic and fell in love since.
After my grandfather died I was on a mission to make music and be different.
I have had a hard life in my 20 years and I see now theirs people all over the world that relate To me.
KK~There are a lot of up-and-coming artists coming out of So Cal. Why do feel as tho your one of the few who stands out amongst the rest?
I got a story to tell is the short answer. My life and name with the music I make and words I put together make me stand out. If you know me then I am down to earth even with this upcoming fame. I write double meaning lyrics with a subliminal message. The music out here are for the fads, I’m about life its self. I will always be real even if it kills me.
KK~ Have you ever felt like too much time passes in the game where you have to make it and that window is closing?
I feel that now as we speak, I have a deadline to meet for my first album “Before Birth” aka before Fame in small print before January when I turn 21. My life is harder then it looks I need this album to survive through this depression. If it goes as planned I’m looking at touring in March of 011
KK~ As of right now, who in the industry would you say you listen to on a regular and would probably like to work with in the near future?
Strange Music and Tech N9ne.
KK~ You have a few songs “First Born” & “Do We Miss You” can you touch a lil basis on the history of those tracks?
Before the studio I was running in the streets not caring about no one else. Not even death
And that was road I was on. Dead or in jail. When my son was born that brought back life and a meaning. The song for my son was the first time I had any type of emotion in a long time. The song for my grandfather was me giving back his respect for teaching me how to use words in a different way I don’t know how but he knew.
KK~ Are fans responding to your new music the way you want them to?
Yes its amazing the love I am getting. I am actually surprised. My #MusicMobNation
Is growing every day as well as my fan mail. I am just trying to keep up now.
KK~ What is your relationship like with some of Cali’s up-and-coming talent and how important is having unity amongst you all?
The west is complicated, unity is rare out here, J.a.p.a.n Clan is still in its development
Stage but doing well. Theirs few other artist I work with out here. Most of the rest either want to collab or stay to their self. So I stay to my music family. I am not looking at working with to many people. This is a cut throat industry.
KK~ What direction do you feel Westcoast is headed heading into 2011?
History repeats it’s self. Were coming back to the top. This is why my tour is so important. Were bringing the west to them. Look at the Mid West their doing major things right now. It’s up to the capital now. Killa Cali
KK~ What advice can you offer to new upcoming artists getting into this game?
Patience is the key. This life is not Disney land you need a better reason to get in this game then girls, money, and cars. Music is a curse and a blessing. You got to have a good head on your shoulders. Know the word of God this is the devils game you’re playing.

I want to be loved and played for ever even after death. I want kids growing up knowing my words. Pac said I might not be the one to change the world but I will spark the brain who will. I want to be that person to make a real change.

LJ-I grew up in Ft Worth TX I am currently in the military USN
KK: How would you describe your sound of music & what makes you different then anyone else in this game?
LJ-I am an R&B neo soul artist my sound is very distinct and cunning not a lot of artist sing in B major it is a smooth sleek style and unique.
KK: Who are some of your influences? I heard you just did the BET awards post party, how was that?

LJ-Dave Hollister, BLACKTREET, Tank, and Luther Vandross. Yes I was, it was amazing to rock out with other artist and meet some other artist as well as producers can’t wait to come back lol!!!!!
KK: What are you working on currently right now? Were can your supporters cop your musik?

KK: This is a tough industry, what keeps you motivated to stay wit it? Do you think it’s tougher bein an R n B artist then lets say a rapper or Hip Hop artist?

LJ-The thing the keeps me motivated is my daughter. No actually the music game is in need of real R&B now so I know I am in the right place.
KK: How do you feel ‘bout the musik industry today ; where it’s goin’?

LJ-I think the music is evolving to become a great movement it will be back to true HIP HOP and true R&B.

KK: What advice can you offer to aspiring artists like yourself?
LJ-You got to have HEART when you in this game if you don’t you will be drained so stay focused and have HEART.

But unity is very important, and cali artists NEED to unify, but there is far tooo much judging in this Market, so there u have it.
7.What keeps me motivated is My lil girl,my True passion for making music for the people who loves it. also knowing that im really out the box, insures me of hope.
8.well as far as the music industry, its Hot again, artists are being their self’s again..music is supposed to be fun, and that is why Pop,Rock,R&B,Dance is the top selling music rite now. They not “Corny” jus because they not talkin bout “Bangin,drugs, an killin people..its music..jus be your self. That’s it. as far as the WestCoast…As a whole, needs ALOT of work, my opinion, This coast hasn’t really been makin any noise n over a decade, so i feel it’s gon take a New breed of super talented,innovative, different artists to bring us back…until then, westCoast is not cared about at this time..Not jus me saying this..but research, meetings,conference calls, the whole 9..lol
9. As far as advice, dnt be a follower, do your own thing, dnt be afraid of what the homies on the block says bout your music, dare to be different, that’s all you need. artists will naturally stand out when their not doin wat “this” rapper doing, ya know?

Lil Bootsy~ Wats craccin world my name is Daryl Gist aka Lil Bootsy of 2 Strong Ent.

KK~Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into the industry and what inspired you?

Lil Bootsy~ Well I grew up listening to a lot of Local music like Dr. Devious, Ecay Uno, Mooch Massive, Lil Cs, and the Underground Family Ties cd so I would picc up on different lyrics here and there and one day I was with my lil cousin Dory aka DJL or 3 Demensional and we started trying to rap and he was better then me like he had done it before so I had to make sure I said something better eachtime and this was at 11 years old, the first beat I ever attempted to rap on was the Luniz “I got 5 on it” beat so the better I got and people older then me started telling me keep trying just gave me the drive to want to keep it up…

KK~ Can you tell us how you came up with the name LIL BOOTSY?

Lil Bootsy~ Ha ha the name Lil Bootsy was a name I was givin at birth because I was a Jr. and my dad was known as Bootsy in the streets so it was automatically inherited so those of you who this I stole Lil Boosie bad ass name not at all way different spelling and I was born with mines.

KK~In your personal view, what is the music scene like growing up in EAST SAN DIEGO?

Lil Bootsy~ I feel it was just everyone pretty much speaking on their struggles on coming up in Dago and with different neighborhoods throughout the city having rappers you get to hear it from all angles and that to me was a good thing and now I think most of it is based on people remaking what is being heard on TV and radio like you have to incorporate where you come from in your music to be identified but if you don’t have your own style of it you just another person rapping.

KK~ Would you say football & your music kept you out of a lot of the everyday street activity?

Lil Bootsy~ Yea I can say that football gave me a chance to focus on more than just the streets because it was something I enjoyed doing and when I got good at it I was like I can make money and not have to deal wit the street stuff but yet I was still around it and at that age everyone wants be a knuccle head so I was battling wanting to be street involved and doing whats right and later football took me to college and beyond so thank god for that.

KK~ You beat the odds of a lot of black men comin up out of the ruff streets of Daygo and graduated from college, how has that affected you in you life? And the life of others around you?

Lil Bootsy~ Well I can actually say it gave a lot of hope too some of my homies I grew up with knowing that it is possible to overcome the obstacles and be more then what the streets see you as and yea my appearance draws the police to me but I have a piece of paper and a good job that say different then what they see me as so I have been greatly affected in a positive way and it opend more Job doors for me…

KK~Have you ever felt like too much time passes in the game where you have to make it and that window is closing when it comes to your music and football?

Lil Bootsy~ Actually that’s what I’m dealing with at the current moment I haven’t did no music in about 2 months to focus on my training and football career that I still have an open window in making it in so what I’m saying is football don’t last forever physically and rapping will always be there rather I want to make it big or use it for therapeutic reasons but I still exercise my mind and right a few bars just to stay in the groove of it…

KK~As of right now, who in the industry would you say you listen to on a regular and would probably like to work with in the near future?

Lil Bootsy~ Well honestly I listen to a lil bit of everybody but I play a lot of Dago music for the fact that rather it’s good to me or not I want to support my city as many ways as I can do it but I wouldn’t mind working with Dr. Dre just because he knows a lot about this game and what it takes.

KK~ Are fans responding to your new music the way you want them to?

Lil Bootsy~ Yes and no but I blame myself for limiting myself to doing mixtapes and not putting time into an album but its all in the near future going to be how I want it.

KK~ What is your relationship like with some of Cali’s up-and-coming talent and how important is having unity amongst you all?
Lil Bootsy~ I deal with everyone whose really about making it happen no matter where they grew up at or from and that is important cause it will bring unity throughout the town even in the streets eventually.

KK~ Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are and where you grew up at…

My names Siccness and I grew up in California to be exact the Orange County area in the cities of Santa Ana & Tustin.

KK~Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into the industry and what inspired you?

Well I started rapping with my cousin Anthony when we were Teens but I never took it seriously I just joked around with it. Then as I got older I started wanting to rap more so I invested in some equipment and turned half of my room into a studio with the closet being transformed into a sound booth, but I was easily distracted back then by girls, smoking, drinking, partying, etc so I would just record a little then I would get distracted, I remember times when I was trying to record and we had so many people in the studio just chilling then I would stop recording and just chill, so I was far from focused. But then one day I was at work and I wrote something tight and I showed one of my friends “Andrew” who is like a brother to me, then he said that’s dope but what are you going to do with it, you just gonna write some shit and let it go to waste or are you going to stop bullshitting and start focusing on your music, and all I could think was what a dick, but when I sat down and thought about what he said and he was right all I did was bullshit and procrastinate with my music, so from then on out I have been focused with my music no matter what comes in my way. So I would say “Andrew” inspired me to get into the industry by giving me that talk.

KK~There are a lot of Indie artists coming out of Orange County. Do you feel as tho your one of the few who stands out amongst the rest?

Yeah I do and the reason for that is because of all of my nonstop hard work that I put in when it comes to getting my music out there, and because of the quality of music that I create, I think it definitely stands out from the rest of the artist cause I got my own sound as oppose to the majority of the artist out here who try and copy the next man and then when done don’t even bother to get there stuff mixed or mastered and then only promote for 1-2 days.

KK~ In 2010 you started up siccnessmusic.com (which now plays a huge part for all who love n support your music) how if at all has that helped with your music carrer?

The industry thrives on the Internet now a day’s, cause that’s where a lot of people spend a lot of their time at weather its behind a computer screen or behind a phone, There are on the internet, So having my website launched has helped out a lot with my music career it’s given me a home to put all my music, videos, merchandise, latest news and its give my fans an official spot where you can get everything you want from Siccness and that’s important in this industry you always got to stay active.

KK~ Have you ever felt like too much time passes in the game where you have to make it and that window is closing?

No not really when I was younger I would always say to myself damn I need to get my music out now I need to get noticed fast before my time passes, but when I think about it now, I understand that in this game you need to have patience and that it don’t matter if your 16, 20, 25, 30, or 35 you can still make shit happen you just need to have good quality music and good support and never give up.

KK~ As of right now, who in the industry would you say you listen to on a regular and would probably like to work with in the near future?

Well I usually listen to a lot of Big L but since you said as of right now I also listen to a lot of Eminem, Brotha Lynch & fabolous as well, and being able to work with either one of them artist would be a blessing and I would definitely take advantage of that opportunity if it ever came.

KK~ In retrospect, being a songwriter, would you consider writing songs for any of them if the opportunity presented itself?

Honestly I couldn’t see myself writing songs for other people cause I feel like whatever I write should be for me only but don’t get me wrong I would gladly sit in a studio with them and help any one of them out with certain parts if they were stuck and didn’t know how to go about it, there isn’t nothing wrong with that, that’s just vibeing with a fellow artist trying to lend a helping hand if needed.

KK~ You have a few songs “Dear Hip Hop” & “Shittin on Em” can you touch a lil basis on the history of those tracks?

Well on “Dear Hip-Hop” that tracks like my love letter to Hip-Hop asking for it back. So in some sense we broke up and stuff isn’t the same but I wanna make it work so I write it a letter but in the form of a song asking for things to go back to the way they were, and I actually just shot a music video for “Dear Hip-Hop” as well so that will be out real soon. And as far as “Shittin on Em” goes that song is pretty much like my prediction, It’s the way that I see things going for me in this industry that’s why I start the song off saying “I’m headed to victory That’s my destination / Do you wanna come with me fame will be embracing / Money will be stacking up and haters we will get / So you better buckle up no time for regrets” and so far it’s a good prediction cause it’s all starting to come true.

KK~ Are fans responding to your new music the way you want them to?

So far all the feedback has been good I’ve been getting a lot of “Damn! Siccness you stepped your shit up the music sounding dope” or “When’s your next album dropping, we love the new music” so I would say that they are responding to the music exactly the way I want them to and that’s a real good feeling.

KK~ What is your relationship like with some of Cali’s Indie talent and how important is having unity amongst you all?

So far the majority of the relationships I have had with some of Cali’s indie talent have been good, it’s always been all love and respect on both ends and we have always for the most part had unity. All though I have had rocky relationships with some of the “Locals” in my county, but I really don’t pay them no attention.

KK~ What direction do you feel Westcoast is headed heading into 2011?

If any of the new comers release they debut albums then the West Coast can be headed into a great direction, but for some reason none of the debut albums for a lot of Dope West Coast artist are not being released and its hurting the coast, so hopefully in 2011 they finally get released cause I know there are Newer West Coast artist who got some heat as well that they’re ready to release such as myself, so let’s just put it this way if the West Coast gets to release all of their projects that they have been working on then it’s a wrap.

KK~ Congratulations, latest news is you just signed with LTR/Universal Records! What do we have to look forward to?

Yeah I just signed a deal with them a few weeks back Thank You, I Appreciate That, and as far as what all of you have to look forward to well I got 2 projects lined up the first one will be released in the first quarter of 2011 and will be titled “Bottom Line” (EP) and the second project will be my full length LP and for that one we don’t have a set date yet but the album right now is about 65% done and sounding really Dope. The fans will definitely be happy with these 2 projects because it’s some of my best work.

KK~ What advice can you offer to new upcoming artists getting’ into this game?

Stay persistant and never give up you have to always be relentless.

KK~When it is all said and done, how would Siccness like to be remembered?

In all honestly I would like to be remembered as one of the best.

KK~ How would the fans go about contacting you?

WRONGKIND RECORDS IS THE LABEL, THA WRONGKIND IS A GROUP, CONSPIRED OF ME AND MY NIGGAS WITH MITCHY SLICK AT THE FOREFRONT. I FELT LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS IN THE FEDS FOR 2 YEARS. I WAS DOWN FROM 06-08 FOR A BULLSHIT CASE I CAUGHT IN UPSTATE NY. I WAS WATCHING BET AND SAW MY NIGGA SLICK ON THERE WITH A WRONGKIND CHAIN ON THEN THE NIGGAS I WAS WORKING OUT WITH WAS LIKE I SEEN YA HOMEBOY WITH A CHAIN ON THE SAME AS THAT TATT ON YA ARM I WAS LIKE YEAH NIGGA ITS OFFICIAL. SO ME BEING A JOURNEYMAN OPPURTUNIST AS SOON AS I WAS RELEASED I JUMPED BACK IN WITH BOTH FEET. I DONT REALLY LISTEN TO MANY OTHER ARTIST ON A REGULAR BASIS. IF I HEAR SOMETHING KNOCKING IM GONNA LEND AN EAR BUT I LIKE OLDIES, OLD SCHOOL R & B. AS FAR AS WORKING WITH ARTIST I WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH SCARFACE.

KK~ In retrospect, being a songwriter, would you consider writing songs for any of them if the opportunity presented itself?

THEY EATING DOWN SOUTH CAUSE NOONE CARES WHERE YOU ARE FROM THEY DONT EVEN CARE IF YOU CAN RAP. THEY JUST PUT EACH OTHER ON AND THEN SAY YOU ON NOW NIGGA EAT. BLACK MIKEY: I grew up in the predominately Blood side of southeast san diego. In between The South & Lincoln Park. Youngest of 3 I was a straight hard head. Found a knack for music, grew with it &it took flight. Now I do music instead of get into trouble.

KK: How would you describe your sound of music & what makes you different then anyone else in this game?

KK: Tell us a lil ‘bout yourself & where you grew up at?

SHAKE: Im The Mayor some people Should Aready Know, But for those that dont know
im from Fresno, Ca. I come from a long line of hip hop. I started off in a
group i formed in the 8th grade call skhool yard with a childhood friend by
the name of Planet asia, we got our first record deal in high school, toured
over seas a few times and now im back at it for my 2nd official solo release.

KK: How would you describe your sound of music & what makes you different then anyone else in this game?

SHAKE: Its Good California Music. I make music for the gangsta aswell as the common folk. It only one of me.

KK: How did you come up wit the name Shake Da Mayor? And what influenced you to get in this game?

SHAKE: My nickname was always Shake but a friend use to call me the mayor cause he said i was
always trying to negotiate some type of deal so i added that with shake and now you have shake the mayor.
my influence was my childhood friends in the neighborhood like planet asia and skhool yard krew.

KK: What are you working on currently right now? Were can your supporters cop your musik?

my slice of the pie, feel me.

On a track be artistic about it don’t  get killed over childish things its not worth it all your lifes means more then you know in order to grasp it all you must step aside for a min & humble yourself to gain it all

AMEZ: To all upcoming artist my words of advice are keep focus make sure this is what you want make sure this why your here weather it be music acting painting dancing etc
Build a strong team work with people that support you, save money never stop the hustle don’t let anyone get in the way of what your trying to make happen but do it in a positive manner .

KK: Tell us a lil ‘bout yourself & where you grew up at?

Coolest Nerd: Well I go by Ken “The Coolest Nerd” and I hail from Kinston, North Carolina. Kinston is a small town. It’s funny because whenever I try and explain to people where I’m from I always get the “huh” or the “I don’t know where that is “answer. I have to tell people it’s near Raleigh or Greenville for them to have an idea where Kinston is. Growing up in Kinston caused me to develop this anti-small town thinking mentality. I think and DREAM big. I was attending the Art Institute down in Atlanta for a while before Sallie Mae told me it was wrap! LOL I was 4 classes away from graduating. It wasn’t funny then but everything happens for a reason. If it wasn’t for that happening I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be where I am now.

KK: How would you describe your sound of music & what makes you different then anyone else in this game?

Coolest Nerd: I like to describe my music as being mind fu*ked! I make music that helps you escape into a world where u can let go of your inhibitions. People make life hard from all psychological barriers they place on themselves. My music helps free you from those barriers. I can remember listening to Biggie and just being so engrossed in the music that I forgot where I was. Not too many artists are making music like that and that’s what I feel separates me from the next artist.

KK: Ken “The Coolest Nerd” how did you come up wit a name like that?

Coolest Nerd: I’ve always considered myself a Nerd. I was into a lot of things other kids weren’t into at my age I was heavy into computers, technology and hacking. But I was also able to function in any social setting. I guess u can say that’s where the cool came in. I’m almost like a walking contradiction because most people don’t consider nerds cool but I beg to differ. What’s uncool about using your mind? That’s SEXY!

KK: What are you working on currently right now? Were can your supporters cop your musik?

Coolest Nerd: I’m currently finishing up the NERD PRIDE EP along with the Cool Intentions 2 mixtape. The NERD PRIDE EP will be distributed through Bungalo/Universal and available online and through ITUNES, Amazon, rhapsody etc. So for all my Nerds out there you can preview the EP on rallnerdsascool.bandcamp.com. KK: Favorite track (with the most buzz)? Whats going on with that right know?

Coolest Nerd: I would say it’s between “Bobble Head Effect” and “I’m Ready”. Those are fan favorites. I get a lot of compliments on that record. Big Shouts out to JEarly for producing that amazing record. The Bobble Head Effect record is an immediate crowd mover. I’ve performed it a lot over the past 6 months and it never fails to do its name. I’m in the process of shooting videos for both of those records.

KK: Who are some of your favorite artists you have worked with? Anyone you would like to work wit in the future?

Coolest Nerd: Many of the artists I’ve worked with have been in house artists. I’m always down for collabs though. My homie JEarly is a talented up and coming artist who I always enjoy working with. The “I’m Ready” record is like my favorite record to date. General Heat is another “dope spitter.” He reminds me of a young Eminem. Working with the Tripple Krown Muziik production team produces me good music. I’ve been trying to hunt down J.Davey! They’re dope! I would love to work with them. I mean I also have my dream roster of who I would like to work with. The Gorillaz, Jay-Z, N.E.R.D, Kanye West, Portishead, Pink Floyd just to name a few.

KK: This is a tough industry, what keeps you motivated to stay wit it?

Coolest Nerd: The more I began to understand that this is a business my perception of things changed. It is truly a tough industry but with the right drive and determination along with the right people around you, you can survive. Creativity is my motivation. I’m fueled by the ability to create. I have a lot to say and I command you all to listen!

KK: How do you feel ‘bout the musik industry today & where it’s goin’?

Coolest Nerd: I feel the music industry is definitely suffering from many different factors. One of the major issues is technology. The Music industry is steady trying to catch up with technology. Music is not selling like it used to which is causing budgets to be cut. Many record companies don’t want to spend any money anymore, especially in the Urban Music department. Artists are forced by the label to create music based on what’s in or “catchy”. Most labels don’t care about the music, it’s about the money. It’s tough out there for an artist. My suggestion is to go independent and have your record(s) distributed through a major label. You’ll get more money that way. Remember it’s a business!!!!

KK: What advice can you offer to aspiring artists?

Coolest Nerd: Believe in and stand behind your product. Don’t give the people something that you yourself wouldn’t spend money on. You have to prove to the fans that you are worth buying into. And keep at it, never get comfortable! There are literally millions of artists trying to take your spot. Surround yourself with people that have your best interest and you’ll get far!
