KK~ Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are an give them a lil background on where you come from.

- I go by Black C aka Black Chris, 1/2 of the Legendary Rap group RBL Posse
KK~ Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into the industry and what inspired you?
- I got into music in 1989, there was a rapper in my neighborhood named Budwyser,
and he came to me for help with purchasing some equipment, I bought a beat machine, 4 track, mic and a few keyboards. I started playing around with the beat making process and feel in love with it, I started making beats before I was rapping.
KK~ Can you tell us how ya’ll came up wit the name RBL POSSE?
- A close friend of mine came up with that name, his name is T. Lowe, he also put a few albums out under Herm Lewis’s “Black Power Productions”. We had “The Hit Squad” at first til we found out EPMD had used that, so he called us “Ruthless By Law” and it stuck with us ever since, it sounded long so we used the initials instead.
KK~ In your personal view, what is the music scene like growing up in the Bay Area?
- Its different now then it was back in the early 90’s, then you was more appreciated cause everybody wasn’t or couldn’t do it, and we had a certain Mobb, Funk sound that was unique. Now we all over the place, and I feel we lost our identity.
KK~ Can you touch a lil basis on the 1996 murder of Mr. CEE, an how it affected RBL POSSE?
- He was shot in the neighborhood that he loved til death, as far as why? I dont really know, but it had a big affect on me and the whole San Francisco period, it has never been the same for me or the City since his death, it took alot of the fun away for me. The City itself has suffered, and had alot of murders since his death, mainly the Hunters Point area.
KK~ RBL POSSE is legendary in this rap game, can we expect any new albums?
- Nah, as far as RBL goes, but we are releasing one more album for the real fans, it will be a Greatest Hits Lp with a Documentary inside including bonus music videos, rare concert footage, remixes and guest appearances.
KK~ You have 2 tracks “I’m Alive” & “Stay wit Me”, can you touch basis on them?
- “I’m Alive” is a song just thanking God im still here after loosing so many close friends and relatives, and still being here to do what I love. I’m blessed not to be stressed. Foreal!
“Stay With Me” is a song I wrote for the neighborhood i’m from, just saying that no matter where im at, i’ll never forget where I come from, the “Block” will always stay with me.
KK~ What is your relationship like with some of Cali’s Indie talent and how important is having unity amongst you all?
- I don’t really have a relationship with any of the artists in Cali, we never really worked with other artists, we always did us and never payed attention to the industry, but today, It’s Very Important, I feel in order to stay relevant you have to network with artists and fans. Dont get me wrong, I do speak as a friend or mentor to a couple artists in the Bay Area.
KK~ What direction do you feel the Westcoast is headed in 2011?
- To be honest, I dont know, but we need a lil direction from the pioneers, Southern Cali looking good, Northern lost a lil spunk, but hopefully that start to change this year.
KK~ When it’s all said an done how would BLACK C like to be remembered?

- As a great M.C. who put out great music.
