What ive been doing: This year has started off great! I am currently taking another aspect of art and applying it to my career. I have recently started attending the Denver Art Institute in hopes of earning my Masters in Design Management. With this degree I hope to be able to still model and have fun while making the magic happen behind the scenes in all aspects of the fashion, art, and marketing world. So far, I absolutely love it and plan on majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Fashion Marketing. My daughter, Taelynn, is turning three next month so as you can imagine I have my hands full! I am also running a coffee shop in Denver called Bikini X-presso! It’s a bikini themed, drive-thru coffee shop featuring stunning women and great coffee. The concept is new and very exciting! Modeling is something I am doing sort of “on call” if I get the chance to shoot with someone who wants to work with me. However, it’s more for fun right now then anything else!

No matter  how you say it or when you say it Ashlyn Plelps is a F*#%ing Big Deal this model resides in Colorado, and she is nothing to play with!!check out the interview as we go in on her career as a model and her furture and whats to come. check it out!!!

CS:so tell us about you and your ur background,and where you from?

ashlyn phelps:
I was born and raised in a small town in Colorado called Woodland Park. Beautiful little quaint town, although just not for me. I played volleyball for eight years and really thought that was my calling. Had several scholorship offers, but because of several changes in my life I choose to go another direction. I have always been a free spirit…I love my family and devote everything to my daughter. I strive off of laughter, ambition, drive, and believe that my dreams are there for a reason. I am currently going to college full time with a major in graphic design and a minor in architectural design. I am in love with how promising my future looks! The other aspect of my life of course would be the modeling. I do it for me and I do it for fun. The types of people you meet in the industry can be some of your best friends or your worst enemy’s. Its truely a super faced paced lifestyle and you have to be diciplined enough not to let it affect your personal life. My life is rather complex but worth every second.

CS:wich person has influenced you the most in modeling

ashlyn phelps:
I don’t really have one person imparticular…my level of modeling is primarily for fun and to network and to create a positive image for myself in my career. I would have to say my biggest inspirations would be women such as Tyra Banks (so cliche I know) because of the fact that they used their beauty on more then just the catwalk. Knowledge is the key to success and I think a lot of people forget that. You can be a pretty face but be dumb as a rock and it won’t get you anywhere. Tyra has taken her image and applied it to positively impact the younger generation by helping women be strong and know that they are beautiful irregardless of what our media and “so called expectations” tell you. The strongest women in the industry, such as herself, will leave more of an impression on the younger generations who are trying to be successful because they tell you how its not all about the money and the fame. It’s about your passion and what your willing and able to do to generate the best life possible for yourself while following your dreams and maintaing a moral balance.

CS:so ashlyn  how did you go about building your career

ashlyn phelps:
My career in modeling honestly started with just being silly and taking pictures of myself and putting them up on my myspace and facebook. Aside from that working in promotions and in night clubs really helped because I was able to meet new faces every week and put my name out there. After I started networking and becoming a little more notorious in the “night life” industry I stared getting offers to do photoshoots or flyers and what not. Like I said, mine has been more for fun then anything. There is good money in it, but it really is something I enjoy doing and that can help my future out dramatically. NETWORKING is key…if you can maintain good character and start putting yourself out there then people will want you to work for them. I believe that my ability to make people laugh while at the same time always maintaining good composure and professionalism has helped. You have to have a quality that people wil remember.

CS:so youv’e been in the modeling game for a bit what fashion shows have you did and for who they were with

ashlyn phelps:
Fashion shows are my favorite part. I have done quite a few for aspiring clothing designers who do things locally as well as larger shoots for names such as Ed Hardy and BeBe. I have done fashion shows for a few charitible events and quite a few at nightclubs during things such as the All-Star games and major concert events in the city as well. Aside from just doing clothing lines I have done fashion shows to sponsor tattoo artists and body paint artists. They are fun for sure and really allow your personality to shine.

CS: wat advice can you give inspiring Models out there?

ashlyn phelps:
The best advice I can give is to just stay true to yourself. Don’t forget what it is about you that people love! The industry is so fast paced and the ratio of fake people to real people is scary. If you can maintain a good image, good morality, and the passion to reach your dreams then you can be unstoppable! Work hard and take advantage of every opportunity you get to network and put your name out there. You never know where you’re going to be when you meet someone that can open that one door you need opened so be classy and always take care of your image.
